Introduction
"Alas,
a sinner can reform, but stupid is forever," grandpa Hesiod
liked to tell me. The name Midas today has become a synonym for
"rich
man", but
I'm here to tell you that King Midas profited little from his
wealth. In fact, his short-lived riches darn near killed
the dunce and his poor daughter.
His story serves to remind us that
stupidity is
often just as fatal as sin, and that one should think long and hard before wishing for something, for
wishes do come true...
Oh
yes, wishes do come true...just ask King Midas...rumor has it you can now find
him laboring on the chariots of the gods, down at the local Mount Olympus
muffler
shop.
You
Myth Maniacs know how we do things around here. Grab
yourselves a cup of Nectar (I'm buying
tonight), curl up in your favorite
chairs and let me spin a 24-carat myth for
you.
Hey,
careful,
don't spill that! Ready? Ok...
Let's
Go Get Midasized!
