Dear Readers,
The following poem was written by a patient and presented to me in a beautiful frame. I was very touched by it and wanted to share it with
the visitors to our website.
THE DENTAL PROFESSION'S
"MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD"
GOES TO DR. GERALD M. SILVERMAN
WE HONOR STEVE YZERMAN,, OSGOOD AND DRAPER,
IMMORTALIZE GRETZKY AND HOWE.
WE STAND AND APPLAUD THE GAME THAT THEY PLAY,
AND RESPECT ALL THEIR SKILL AND KNOW HOW.
BUT HERE IN THIS DENTAL ARENA
WHERE THE GAME ISN'T PLAYED ON THE ICE,
LIES A TEAM'S MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
TO WHOM "FANS" COME, SEEKING ADVICE.
HIS NAME'S NOT ENGRAVED ON A TROPHY OR CUP,
THERE'S NO JERSEY IN A SPORTS HALL OF FAME.
BUT ONCE HE HAS TOUCHED YOUR LIFE, YOU WILL FIND
THAT YOU'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIS NAME.
HE GIVES OF HIMSELF, WITH COMPASSION AND CARING,
YET, NO STANLEY CUP DO I SEE.
HE'S A WINNER IN ALL OF THE GAMES THAT HE PLAYS,
AND "SCORES" VERY HIGHLY WITH ME.
IN A TIME WHEN LIFE'S GAME SEEMS IT'S MOVING SO
FAST;
POINTS IN HUMAN COMPASSION SEEM TOSSED,
A PLAYER LIKE THIS BRINGS US BACK TO BELIEVING,
YOU CAN COME FROM BEHIND - "GAMES NOT LOST"!
SO, HELP ME PAY HOMAGE TO THIS UNSUNG HERO,
"RAISE THE ROOF", IF LIKE ME, YOU'RE A FAN!
NO OTHER COULD "CHECK" HIS WAY INTO YOUR HEART,
LIKE THIS PERSON, THIS SURGEON, DOCTOR SILVERMAN.
PLEASE, ACCEPT THIS TRIBUTE TO YOU - "NUMBER ONE",
AND THANKS FOR WHAT YOU DID FOR ME,
ALLOW ME TO HONOUR, APPLAUD, AND IMMORTALIZE,
YOUR DENTAL TEAM'S "MVP"!!!

THANK YOU AS WELL, TO ALL OTHER TEAM PLAYERS OF DR.
SILVERMAN'S OSL - "ORAL SURGERY LEAGUE"!

BRAINTEASERS OF THE MONTH
1. What time is it when a clock strikes 13 times?
2. If yesterday had been Wednesday’s tomorrow and tomorrow is Sunday’s
yesterday, what day would today be?
3. A friend was telling me, ”I have eight sons and each has one sister,”
In total, how many children does my friend have?
4. A dentist has a brother who is an attorney in Ontario, but the attorney in
Ontario does not have a brother who is a dentist. How can this be?
5. It occurs once in a minute, twice in a week and once in a year. What
is it?
6. A man ordered a glass of white wine and a glass of red wine at a bar. He
took the glass of white wine in his right hand and the one with red in
his left hand and drank both. He paid and left. The next day, he did the
same. When he was leaving, the waiter asked him: “I did not know that firemen drank that way?”
The man smiled and left. How did the waiter know that he was a fireman?

END OF THE BASEBALL SEASON
The baseball season for the Detroit Tigers ends as it had started with a
probable last place finish for the team. The Tigers have ended the 1990’s
with the worst record in professional baseball. Now on the other hand,
the Toronto Blue Jays are in the middle of the race for a wild card berth in
the playoffs. We wish them well.
Now that the season is about to end, I want to share with you a few
thoughts on the game of baseball:
“I think a baseball field must be the most beautiful thing in the
world. It’s so honest and precise. And we play on it. Every star gets
humbled. Every mediocre player has a great moment.” Lowell
Cohn, “The Temple of Baseball”, 1981.
That is the way many of feel about Tiger Stadium. We will certainly miss it
as we move into the new Comerica Park. Hopefully, the new stadium will
develop its own history and wonder.
“Ninety feet between the bases is the nearest thing to perfection that man has yet achieved.” Red Smith (1905-1982), Sportswriter.
Perhaps a good fitting crown on a dental implant places second for
nearest thing to perfection
“I feel an invisible bond between our three generations, an anchor of loyalty linking my sons to the grandfather whose face they never
saw but whose person they have already come to know through this
most timeless of all sports, the game of baseball.” Doris Kearns
Goodwin, “From Father With Love”, 1987
I am so very fortunate to have placed baseball with my father for five
years from 1992-1997 at the Detroit Tigers Fantasy Camp as well as to play
baseball with my two youngest sons, Justin and Jonathan, who are 12 and 10,
respectively on almost a daily baseball. There is this bond between my
father and me and my sons and it is called baseball. By the way, my father
played baseball with me in Lakeland, Florida at the Detroit Tigers Fantasy
Camp from the ages of 85 years old to 90 years old. At the age of 90,
he hung up his uniform and retired. He is now 92 years old and coaches
from the bench.
“Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer.” Ted
Williams, Red Sox outfielder (1939-1960).
This is so true. In the use of dental implants, where the success rate
is a minimum of nine times out of ten, anything less is considered to be a
failure.
“All ballplayers should quit when it starts to feel as if all the baselines run uphill.” Babe Ruth, Yankees Outfielder
(1920-1934)
“HEADLINES: THE PAINFUL TOOTH ABOUT LIZ”
This headline screens from the pages of the National Enquirer about -
you guessed it - Liz Taylor. “I don’t care if I’m 67, I’ll be damned if
I’ll wear dentures!....Liz has undergone dental implant surgery - a state-of-the-art procedure that’s given her an incredible camera-ready
smile,” said a source.
In addition to this, Liz supposedly says: “Just the idea of putting my
teeth in a glass overnight makes me cringe...Liz is thrilled with her fabulous
new smile...I got a great smile and lost weight in one fell swoop!”
Well, I guess if it is good enough for Liz, it would be good enough for
you. Give us a call if we can help you in any way with dental implants.
UNIVERSAL LAWS OF SUCCESS
By Brian Tracey
THE LAW OF RESPONSIBILITY
You are where you are and what you are because of you.
You are fully responsible for everything you are,
Everything you have and everything you become.
THE LAW OF HAPPINESS
The quality of your life is determined by how you feel at any given moment.
How you feel is determined by how you interpret what is happening around you
not by the events themselves.
THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
You attract into your life the people, ideas and opportunities that harmonize with your dominant thoughts.
When your goals are magnetized with the emotion of desire, you will experience what other people call “luck”.
