AM I TOO OLD TO HAVE DENTAL IMPLANTS
TO REPLACE MY MISSING TEETH?

Absolutely not. In most cases, age is not a factor in the selection of patients who are candidates for dental implants, but health may be. There are very few reasons medically that may prevent us from using dental implants.

An estimated 12% of our population is currently 65 years of age or older and this number is expected to increase to more than 21% in the year 2030. Therefore, if you are 65 years of age at this time, you have a life expectancy of another 17 years.

Since you are going to be living longer, why deny yourself the opportunity of improving the quality of your life with dentures that actually stay in place.

Implants make sense if you have dentures that get loose and are uncomfortable or you have difficulty eating certain foods. Also there is a distinct advantage if you want to fill the gaps without drilling on other teeth for bridges or using metal clasps that often are uncomfortable or show.

I attended a lecture that showed slides of a 90 year old man that had implants put in. Everyone was surprised that the dentist would place implants in someone that age. However, the next slide showed the same man six years later at true age of 96. Why should we deny him at least six more years of happiness because of his age?

Are you a candidate for dental implants? Do you want to improve the quality of your life? If so, seek out a reliable dentist who has done many dental implant cases. Assure that the dentist is qualified, trained and has experience. If we can help you or your have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me.
